About saltyoz

The photography found at saltyoz

saltyoz is a visual study of rhythm, light, and everyday stories along the coast — a place where calm observation meets a willingness to wander, experiment, and see what unfolds. Most of my photographs begin in Burleigh, a coastline I return to again and again for its familiar paths, soft mornings, and the gentle rhythm of people moving through the day. But the work doesn’t stay in one place or one genre. It moves between ocean calm and surf energy, wide landscapes and quiet urban corners, animals and boats, quirky moments and simple lifestyle scenes.
This site gathers all of those threads into one space. It’s multi‑genre by nature, but held together by a consistent way of looking: slow, curious, reflective, and open to the small surprises that appear when you’re paying attention. Some images come from early walks along the shoreline, others from wandering city streets, watching surf lineups, noticing a shadow on a wall, or pausing at a café table. The joy is in the mix — the way different subjects share the same quiet atmosphere when photographed with intention.
I’m not chasing perfection or spectacle. I’m more interested in the gentle adventure of the ordinary: the colour of the ocean after rain, the pause before a wave, the shape of a pandanus shadow, the way people carry themselves through familiar spaces, or the unexpected moment that makes you smile. saltyoz is where all of that lives.
If you enjoy calm imagery, small stories, and a sense of wandering without hurry, you’re in the right place. Take your time. Explore the galleries. Dwell a while. There’s always something new to notice.
